Mr. John Eshun was born on 5th December, 1937 to the late Jamesu Asua (father) and Maame Aturu (mother) at Bonsokrom in Ahanta West. However, his hometown is Himakrom also in Ahanta West District.

Mr. John Eshun learnt carpentry at Kakoase, Tarkwa from Mr. James Aryeh.

After completing his apprenticeship, he got employed by the prestiogious Ghana Rubber Estate (GREL), to work in the Building Division of the company.

He worked at GREL for over two decades ( between 1962-1982). Due to his outstanding performance, he was awarded the best carpenter by the company in 1970.

In 1983, after realising he cannot rely on his work at Ghana Rubber Estates alone, he voluntarily resigned from his post and started his own carpentry work at Himakrom where he set up his own carpentary shop.

Eventhough he did not receive any formal education, he saw the need of educating his children.

He made sure to spend his last pesewa on his children’s education because according to him “ those children he stayed with during the days of his apprenticeship at Tarkwa rose to become Managers and Directors when he started working at Ghana Rubber Estes due to the formal education they received”.

Today, he has been able to achieve his dream by producing five graduate teachers, who are all working with the Ghana Education Service in various capacities as head teachers and teachers.

On his private life, Mr. Eshun was very approachable and principle in dealing with issues. He was always found counselling families and individuals who have dispute.

In fact, words cannot describe all his numerous attributes. We have indeed lost a great personality in our midst. Our parayer is may the almighty God keep you safe until we meet again.
