Ameer asks Muslims to contribute to national development

Saltpond (C/R), May 6, GNA - Alhaji Maulvi Noor Muhammad Bin Salih, the Ameer and Missionary - in - Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana has called on Ghanaians to contribute their quota as 'we lift the country from its current problems'.

'We have all contributed one way or the other to the situation we find ourselves now, no single individual or person can be blamed, it's our collective action and it is only through collective efforts that we can solve our problems,' he said.

Maulvi Salih was speaking at the first annual conference of the Central -West Region of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission at Saltpond in the Central Region on the theme: 'Discipline: a Prerequisite for moral development.'

He said the breakdown of discipline leading to gross disrespect for human values is a clear indication of the conditions that had bedeviled the country and it is time every Ghanaian remembers that they have a stake in the development of the country.

He said the huge morality deficit in the society is a major contributor to the deteriorating state of the country and this needs to be corrected to ensure that the country return to God.

Maulvi Salih urged Muslims and all Ghanaians to desist from corruption and all forms of immoral acts saying they had a responsibility towards the state.

He said Islamic teachings as expounded in the Holy Qur'an repeatedly mentions the rights and freedom of non-Muslims and admonished Muslims to live by the beautiful teachings of Islam and desist from forcing others into the religion.

He urged Muslims to continue to pray fervently for the country as it is going through difficult moments.

Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, the Regional Minister, also urged the youth not to allow themselves to be used by political figures to disturb the country's peace.

He affirmed government commitment to create the enabling environment to keep the youth in employment and expressed the hope that an effective partnership with religious bodies would enhance the process.
