New Patriotic Party Ejisu parliamentary aspirant Kaakyire Badu has been arrested for allegedly assaulting the Municipal Chief Executive Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh.

Kaakyire and an accomplice Kwame Amoako were arrested Tuesday for allegedly verbally assaulting the MCE during Saturday’s National Sanitation day clean-up exercise.

About five irate men threatened the outspoken MCE in the presence of the District Motor Traffic and Transport Unit Commander, ASP George Aboagye.

Police say the irate men came in a vehicle with registration GR 55-10, which was draped in posters of the aspiring New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate.

The assault followed instructions by Mr Yamoah-Ponkoh for the clearing of illegal wooden structures constructed by traders on waterways in the municipality

A case of assault was subsequently lodged with the Ejisu police and a search was immediately launched for the attackers.

Kaakyire is expected to be arraigned on Friday.
