The Vetting Committee interviewing one of the aspirants

THE VETTING Committee in the Tema Zone of the Greater Accra Region on the first day of sitting, has received two petitions against some candidates who intend contesting the parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Petitions were brought against Benjamin Armah, a contender to Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus-Glover, Member of Parliament for Tema-East constituency and another candidate from the Shai-Osudoku constituency.

The committee has so far vetted 13 candidates from five constituencies which form part of the 34 constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.

A total of 15 aspirants were expected to be vetted by the committee in the Tema Zone.

Joyce Zimpare, Greater Accra Women Orgainser of the NPP who is also a member of the committee, made these known to DAILY GUIDE. She said the party would assess the performance of the candidates before they are declared fit to contest or otherwise.

She expressed excitement at the peaceful atmosphere and the manner in which the exercise was being undertaken, and encouraged the candidates to conduct themselves well throughout their campaigns.

She was of the view that the party's chances in the five constituencies were brighter than the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Information gathered by the DAILY GUIDE indicates that another petition would be brought against Irene Naa Torhsie Addo, MP for Tema West constituency tomorrow over the construction of a polyclinic in her constituency.
