Yvonne Nelsons Submissions On Dumsor Is Multi-faceted: Good Bad
05.05.2015 LISTEN

Dumsor has been talked about immensely by some celebrities over the week and its effects has come on the fast lane in creating a form of heated arguments amongst fans of these celebrities and some public personalities.

A lot of blog sites and media houses reported on the interview granted by Yvonne to the BBC.

On a whole, I think the actress cum producer has betrayed her nation by granting that interview and crying her voice out on the current power crises being experienced in the Ghana.

For a native of a country to go on another country’s national broadcaster and talk booku about dumsor is something uncharacteristic.

It is similarly equal to telling another country about your country’s classifieds but in this case it is quite different because dumsor is not any new thing to the outside world.

But ask yourself if a Briton and for that matter a top notch celebrity will grant a Ghanaian broadcaster an interview over his/her nation’s crises and I guessyou know the response yourself.

This is where I think Yvonne could have done the opposite than granting that BBC interview.

But seemingly, she spoke maturely on Peace FM’s afternoon news on Monday, May 4, 2015 when she was asked for her response in countering what one ex-government worker said about her being a prostitute which also came about due to her submissions the ex-government worker felt was bogus or unnecessary.

She kept her cool and made practical submissions on the questions she was asked and honestly I see no wrong in a native crying out her voice in addressing pressing issues which are drastically affecting all and sundry.

I recall her saying she is standing up for her right and that of others who haven’t got “the go” in speaking on some of these challenging issues.

For this alone, I say bravo for having the courage to champion an exemplary course and I think it teaches one thing – use your privileges and influence as a celebrity to positively affect the society.
