MAY 4 2015 ACCRA–MTN Ghana, the leading telecoms provider, has begun the celebration of its fifth annual Ashanti regional festival, Ashantifest, which is expected to run from May 1 to May 30, 2015. Created by MTN five years ago, the award-winning festival is aimed at celebrating MTN’s loyal customers in the Ashanti region.

Exciting, life enriching activities to be rolled out in communities across the region during the month-long festivities include the following:

  • Health and Fitness Walk
  • Ashanti Business Fair Executive Trade Visit
  • Community Forum
  • Data/Value Added Services Clinics
  • Test Your Pulse Jam
  • Ashanti Fest Music Concert
  • Okyeame Kwame Versatile Show

Key among the activities for this year is the Asantehene’s Gold Cup which will be held from May 15th to May 17th in honor of Otumfuo Osei Tutu, King of Ashanti. This unique event has consistently featured in Ashantifest celebrations over the years.

MTN was recognized by CIMG in 2014 with an award for the creation and implementation of Ashantifest. A citation accompanying the award stated, “Using Brand Activation as a medium, you have been able to use the Ghanaian Culture (Asanteman Culture) to activate your brand value. With the use of brand ambassadors, you have succeeded in creating a connection between your brand and its target audience.”

Other regional celebrations created by MTN include Sun City fest (Brong Ahafo Region), Twin City fest (Western and Central Regions) and Savannafest (Upper East, Upper West and Northern Regions).
