Mahama Himself Is Not Smart—Bandex

Renowned film and music producer, Ahmed Banda known in showbiz circles as Bandex has said President John Dramani Mahama “is not a smart person himself.”

Speaking to Roman Fadda on Atinka Fm’s mid -morning show, “Edwuma oo” on Monday, Bandex said the effect of the current power outage on the economy for the past three years, is no joke. “If Mahama cannot see the effect of the ‘dumsor’ on the economy, then, the president is not ‘smart’ himself,” Bandex said.

President Mahama during the May Day celebrations suggested that “smart” businesses were not laying off workers, but were rather investing to improve production.

The companies, he said, were investing because they had faith in the ability of the government to end the power crisis and improve the country’s electricity generation capacity. The President has come under severe tongue-lashing in the media for these comments.

“Many big companies in the country are laying off their workers because they spend more on power. Other small scale businesses that cannot afford alternative sources of power are forced to go out business,” Mr. Banda said.

He also added, “these days, we[film producers] get good stories, but we can’t go on set because there is no power. Artistes come to the studio to make music but we can’t work with them because there is no power.”

He concluded that the President find something better to tell Ghanaians instead of playing the proverbial ostrich.
