CENAB UK Women Pour Anger At "Alhaji" Halidu Haruna

By Coalition To Elect Nana Addo And Bawumia (CENAB)
CENAB UK Women Pour Anger At Alhaji Halidu Haruna
04.05.2015 LISTEN

We the women in CENAB UK Advocacy Group are declaiming the character and conduct of Halidu Haruna, for referring to spinsters aged 30 and above as prostitutes. We are expressing our extreme anger, following a genuine statement of sentiment made by Ms Yvonne Nelson, Ms Lydia Forson and other female celebrities, in regard to the continuing power outage in Ghana, to which Halidu Haruna has retorted with derogatory remarks on the generality of women who fall within these celebrities’ age and marital status of being single.

CENAB is a broad coalition of patriots, friends and supporters of Nana Addo and Dr Bawumia, in their bid to be elected President and vice President of Ghana respectively, for a positive change. We have come to a realisation that membership of the NDC as a party have been abusive to womenfolk, including sordid cruelty meted out to us. We recall that it was the P/NDC that stripped some of us naked in public, and caned them for a crime of being mercers and general traders, with a reasonable amount of cash invested in businesses under their control.

We are hereby citing amongst some of NDC cruelty to women cases by evoking an incident in which even a former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings was grossly disrespected and molested at Cape Coast, for disagreeing with the NDC, a party to which she was once aligned. It was an eventful scene that triggered her seceding from them.

We know of women journalists who have been used to cover their events, and subsequently assaulted, just for suspecting them of disloyalty. We further recall that the NDC promised that there would be 40% of women in ministerial positions but ended up with only 13% in their government. A top NDC member has even callously called for women only to be subjected to public flogging, if suspected of adultery.

The NDC as a party find it hard to accommodate constructive criticism of any kind, whereby they would retort only with insults and names calling. Allotey Jacobs declared that all critics of NDC have rotten teeth, the best he could say to dispel a critical argument. We angrily bare out our teeth today at Halidu Haruna, a supposed aide to a President, to be at least cultured in his conduct of expression, and not be making utterances akin to lacking wisdom, and being brought up in thoughtlessness.

This therefore is a clarion call for all women in Ghana, to join in unison and solidarity with our spinster sisters and friends to call for a laceration of the pride, arrogance and impudence that is clothing over Mr Halidu Haruna. The NDC, from their numerous statements, have said and done enough to tell Ghanaian women that they disrespect women. They perceive women as second class citizens, and as non-entities. This is the very reason why up until this moment no NDC leadership, men or women have come out to condemn this abominable statement. We join hands with all women to tweet #VoteoutMahama&NDC#
