K-Poly Rector pushes for a green environment to mitigate climate change

Rector of the Kumasi Polytechnic, Prof. Nicholas Nsowah-Nuamah has enjoined individuals and corporate Ghana to stay committed to greening their environments as a climate mitigation mechanisms.

He has in this direction given thumps up to the National Sanitation Day exercise, which holds every first Saturday of the month.

According to Prof. Nsowah-Nuamah, it is the responsibility of every institution to care about the climate by helping to make the environment sustainable.

“It should be important to every institution because in a situation where you know that what you are doing is affecting climate change; what you are doing is affecting the environment, you should do something to make the environment safe,” he told Luv fm.

Corporate institutions are increasingly joining in the National Sanitation Day exercise.

Prof. Nsowah-Nuamah joined students and academic staff of the Polytechnic to partake in the cleanup of the school’s campuses and environs as part of the sanitation day programme.

He says the need to inculcate the spirit of communal labour in the students is one of the reasons for the institution’s involvement.

He therefore expects the students to carry on the habit to their homes and communities to be responsible citizens.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Association of Statistics Students, as part of its anniversary event in Kumasi, joined in the National Sanitation exercise at the Ejisu Government Hospital, in honour of Prof. Nsowah-Nuamah for his contribution to national development.

The K-Poly Rector is the Founder and Chief Patron of the Association.
