Ashaiman Police Profile Criminals

THE ASHAIMAN Divisional Police Command has started profiling suspects who might have been found on the wrong side of the law.

According to the police, taking the database of suspects had led to proper monitoring and trailing of some criminals hitherto left off the hook in criminal cases for lack of evidence.

Speaking at the West African Security Society Association (WASSA) get-together held for police officers at Ashaiman near Tema in the Greater Accra Region, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jonathan A. Adams-Godoe, the Ashaiman Divisional Commander, disclosed that database building which commenced during the first quarter of this year, had compelled the divisional headquarters to establish an intelligence unit where officers would be properly trained.

According to him, detectives would feature highly in field work, with the police organizing short courses on proper handling of case dockets as well as better investigation skills.

ACP Adams-Godoe lauded the rapport among the Attorney-General's Department, investigators, prosecutors and the law courts, which he noted, had made prosecution of cases successful.

He applauded his personnel, especially those at the operational units, for their resilience albeit in the face of many challenges, while appreciating the efforts of those at the information rooms of the Ghana Police Service who often relay vital information to patrol teams on the ground to combat crime.
