Zabzugu (N/R) May 3, GNA - Mr Issifu Alidu Laa-Bandow, Zabzugu District Chief Executive (DCE), on Saturday lauded people in the area for the enthusiastic manner they embraced the 6th edition of the National Sanitation Day(NSD) exercise.

He said he was thrilled about the way and manner market women, present and former staff of the district assembly and other departments, workers of Zoomlion, a sanitation management organisation and other community members patronised the exercise.

The people as usual emptied choked gutters, cleared weeds, cleaned the streets, collected garbage and swept their surroundings.

Mr Laa-Bandow, asked the citizens to sustain the momentum in consequent NSD exercises.

He said the district has benefitted from a directive by President John Dramani Mahama in 2014 mandating all metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to set aside portion of their share of the District Assembly Common Fund for the construction of classroom blocks and CHPS compounds dubbed: 'President Priority Projects.'

He said as a result the assembly is constructing a CHPS compound at Gor-Kuani and a three-unit classroom block at Mangoase.

The DCE said a three-unit classroom block is being built for Rajia D/A Primary School, whilst a contract has been awarded for the construction of a CHPS compound at Ojoja.

Mr Laa-Bandow entreated the people to remain positive as he is working assiduously to ensure that the people of the district get their share of the better Ghana agenda.
