Ashaiman Police Command appeals for assistance

Ashaiman (G/A), May 2, GNA - The Ashaiman Divisional Police Commander ACP J.A. Adams-Godoe, has appealed to the business community and other stakeholders to assist the division to complete some of its projects.

The projects are the fencing and landscaping of the divisional headquarters at Mandela Park-Kaketo, construction of office complex, refurbishing and equipping of offices and donation and installation of standby generator.

ACP Adams-Godoe made the appeal when the Command celebrated its West Africa Security Services Association at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

The security services used the occasion to take stock of their activities in 2014 looked at its strength and weaknesses and reviewed its strategies for the way forward.

ACP Adams-Godoe said security is a shared responsibility hence the need to complete the projects to create the enabling environment for the people to go about their daily activities in relative peace.

He said the crime rate in the area is under control and the statistics had shown marginal decrease.

He said 12 murder cases were reported in 2014 as against 17 in 2013, 139 robbery as compared to 144 in 2013, defilement 46 as equated to 79 in 2013 while rape cases increased to 18 in 2014 as against six in 2013.

ACP Adams-Godoe said a total of 5,846 cases were recorded in 2014 as compared to 5,776 in the previous year, and most of them were assaults and other misdemeanors which had been between Ashaiman, Gbetsile, Katamanso, New York among other developing communities.

He said this year the target of the police would feature on detective work, while short courses on proper handling of case dockets and better investigation skills would be organised.

The Commander congratulated the security personnel for their resilience in the face of many challenges.

He expressed gratitude to the media for reporting on the activities of the police.
