Accra, May 2, GNA - The Private Universities' Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) has praise the sacrifices and patriotism of Ghanaian workers in the face of the erratic power crises and tough challenges of economic survival.

Mr Raphael Apetorgbor, the Media Relations Officer of PUSAG, speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday, in regards to the international workers day, said workers were the greatest assets of every nation, stressing that workers were the engine room and vital organ around which development revolved.

'Ghana had continued to benefit from the toil and sweat of the Ghanaian workers who had made tremendous contributions to the economic development of the nation despite the power and economic crises,' he said.

He acknowledged workers for their perseverance to the progress and stability of the country.

'No matter how lofty a policy of government is, it cannot achieve set objectives if workers who are to implement it did not play their expected roles,' he said.

Mr Apetorgbor called on government and other employers to ensure safe working conditions and improved remunerations for their workers.

He implored workers to roll up their sleeves and partner with government or employees to actualize the vision, stressing that 'to whom much is given, much is expected,' he emphasised.

He called on government to allocate special power packages to industries to resolve some of their challenges.

'PUSAG believes until there is an additional generation to the generation mix, the Electricity Company of Ghana shouldn't connect new communities to the national grind,' Mr Apetorgbor said.
