Bolgatanga, April 27, GNA - National Service Personnel (NASPA) in the Upper East Region have attended a Carrier Seminar in the Bolgatanga Municipality, aimed at preparing them well towards the job market.

The seminar organized by the National Service Secretariat in collaboration with the Restorative Seed Society and sponsored jointly by the Divine Consult, Upright Consult, Yapco Focus Group, Ernesto and the Legacy Kitchen was under the theme:'Entrepreneurship and Personal Development'

In an address, the Municipal President of NASPA, Mr Musah Salahu Deen, stated that the programme was very timely viewing the current challenges graduates faced in the job market and entreated his colleagues to listen well from the resource persons and to put into practice the good lessons.

Mr John K Krugu , Executive Director of Youth Harvest Foundation, a resource person regretted the incidence where some graduates after schooling often complained of unemployment and blamed such graduates for failing to explore the numerous opportunities available.

He impressed upon the Service Personnel not to rely solely on government for employment but to establish their own businesses by looking for the needs of the society to take advantage of that.

He called on the participants to work hard in their respective offices and to also endeavour to add values to themselves to enable them fit in the competitive job market. Mr Yen Nyeya, one of the resource person, who took the participants on the topic 'Interviewing Skills and Curriculum Vitae Writing' indicated that most people had failed to secure jobs as a result of the way and manner they prepared their Curriculum Vitae and the mode in which they attended interviews.

He, therefore, entreated those who could not prepare their curriculum vitae to seek support from experts and to also dress appropriately when attending interviews as well as master the subject matter about the interview in question.

Mr Hilary Adongo, the Director of the Restorative Seed Society, implored the participants to come together to form a joint venture, and stressed that there were a lot of opportunities in the region which they could explore to make themselves better.

Most of the participants who expressed satisfaction about the Seminar, called for such programmes to organized periodically for National Service Personnel.
