World Malaria Day 2015: Theme: Say No To Malaria, Invest In The Future

Statistics by WHO states that 219 million people across the world are affected with malaria. 660, 000 death each year mostly children under five (5) years. As the world observes world malaria today, Ghana Statistics despite efforts to date, malaria is still the biggest cause of mortality and morbidity in Ghana, especially among children under five years, pregnant women and the poor.

The Coalition of NGOs Associated with UN-DPI (CUNANGOs) wish to call on government to build the needed infrastructure that will not allow Malaria to breed in the environment.

CUNANGOs are also calling on the citizens to maintain clean surroundings and endeavor to eliminate stagnant waters. We urged all stakeholders to get on board in the battle against malaria. Malaria is a killer but it is preventable, let’s team up and drive malaria away. In addition to the health problems that it causes, it also has negative effects on the economy through loss of work days.

CUNANGOs are accredited members of NGOs with consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC & DPI) who have agreed to come together to form a Coalition to provide primary support and platform for members to advocate for the United Nations Agenda and raise public awareness of the roles, structures and functions of the United Nations as well as pursue common interest of members.
