Members of the UCF of NDC have welcomed the news that a section of lecturers in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have constituted themselves into an association called the “NPP Front-liners”, aimed at intellectually campaigning for the NPP to win the 2016 general elections.

The 1992 constitution allows for freedom of association, which every individual and groups are entitled to.

This is welcome news which caps a saying that, ‘Lord, show me my friends; my enemies I can take care of’.

In a period where individuals and groups hide under the cloak of civil society organizations including pastors of churches to pursue their political agenda, the university lecturers have come out to distance themselves from untoward acts of certain individuals that go to affect the total membership of organizations which may belong to different political persuasions.

It is now incumbent on those lecturers, as matured as they are, to know their responsibilities to themselves, the university, the tax payer and students whose sweat and toil guarantees their daily bread.

This bold initiative is one step in the right direction of ridding the country of pseudo-political parties who bandy around the corridors of civil agitations through their leadership to make this country ungovernable.

The challenge is left to members of vociferous organizations such as the Ghana Medical Association, Ghana Bar Association, Ghana Union of Traders Association and others whose leaderships are perceived to be using their associations to front clandestine demands on government, all for the sake of their political standing, knowing very well that the economy is too much challenged to satisfy such demands.

EFANAM FELIX NYAKU
GENERAL SECRETARY, UCF of NDC
