Security Defiles Girl, 9

A security man has found himself in the grips of the law enforcement agencies after he was allegedly caught red-handed defiling a nine-year-old girl in a kiosk.

Mawuena Akwasi was put before a court presided over by Mrs. Rita Budu-Agyemang, charged with defiling a girl under the age of 16.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and has been remanded into police custody while the case has been adjourned to May 7, 2015.

Narrating events leading to the arrest of the accused, the prosecutor, ACP Moses Atibilla, told the court that the accused is a security man while the victim stays at Spintex Road, Accra, with her mother, who is the complainant in this case.

According to him, on April 15, 2015, Mawuena gave GH¢0.70 to the victim to go and buy wakye and after eating the food, lured her into a nearby kiosk where he took off her panties and defiled her.

ACP Moses Atibilla said in the process, someone who saw him with the little girl went and stood behind the door of the kiosk, peeped through it, saw the suspect in the act and raised an alarm, leading to the arrest of Mawuena.

The police officer stated that the victim and her mum subsequently went and lodged a complaint with the police and the victim was given a form to be sent to the hospital for medical examination and treatment.

He said that the security man denied the offence in his caution statement and was arraigned before the court after the police had concluded investigations.
