Health officials in the Ashanti Region are planning to intensify education following an increase in Pneumonia cases.

In 2014, the region recorded 26,369 cases with 12 recorded deaths. As at April 2015, the Asahnti region has already recorded 5,000 cases but no deaths.

Deputy Health Director Dr. Joseph Oduro tells Joy News the trend is alarming.

He explained that, “Pneumonia like malaria is one of the common diseases we have especially in children”

Dr. Daniel Odoru said to curb the increasing cases, they are doing a lot of education “telling people to report early to the hospitals to avoid complications and deaths.”
