Contemporary Black Youth Must Learn To Live Our Pan-african History!
24.04.2015 LISTEN

Many years later, a king arose in Egypt to whom Joseph meant nothing (Exodus 1:8). By inference, the pan-african contribution of black states to the fight against apartheid in South Africa means nothing to the perpetrators of the recent xenophobic attacks! That is an absolutely low level of historical education and consciousness being inimical to the progress of a nation! Also, history is an integral part of the development of every nation, because it is a solid foundation in nation building.

Moreover, as a teenage pan-africanist who has our pan-african history at heart, I lament the ignorance of our pan-african history among most of my teenage fellows. However, our westernised educational system and society as a whole have all exposed our pan-african history to ridicule and extortion! How many contemporary black youth learn about and are conscious of our pan-african history? But I believe in black consciousness that is why I am learning to be conscious of our pan-african history even as a business student!

Furthermore, all pan-african institutions must address this farcical phenomenon with urgency to help solve the westernised indoctrination of our contemporary black youth! For how can we educate our contemporary black youth in science, mathematics, economics, finance etc without binding them with our pan-african history? Their black thinking would certainly be westernised to harm their homeland, because of the neocolonialist element in the process of the education!
