Tamale, April 23, GNA - The Micro-finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) on Wednessday presented 30 tricycles to some Youth in the Northern Region.

Mrs Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu, the Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, who presented the tricycles to the beneficiaries in Tamale, said they would be used as taxis to help reduce transportation difficulties, and create jobs in the transport industry in the region.

She said the scheme aimed to empower Ghanaians through skills acquisition and credits to fund businesses.

She urged the beneficiaries to work hard to pay for the tricycles, which had been given in the form of loans, so that others could benefit from the scheme.

She also advised them to ride safely on the roads to avoid accidents, and stressed the importance of using crush helmets to save their lives.

She said the tricycles, which were given to the beneficiaries in a monthly installment of GH₵300.00 are to be paid in 36 months, while others were given loans between GH₵500.00 and GH₵700.00 to be repaid within six months.

Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, Deputy Northern Regional Minister, appealed to MASLOC to empower more women in the region to enhance the roles they play in the family set up.

He commended MASLOC for the intervention, and urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the programme to improve their economic fortunes.
