This statement, related to the Xenophobic atrocities in the Republic of South Africa has the authorisation of FEGHADE. It is issued this 20/04/2015 in Brussels, Belgium.

The Federation of Ghanaian Diaspora in Europe, FEGHADE is an Organization birthed through an official interaction between the Ghana Government, the European Union (MiEUx) and Ghanaians in Europe. FEGHADE is anchored on the best human rights, democratic principles and our vocation seeks the welfare and interest of Ghanaians living in Europe and beyond whenever necessary.

We, the members of FEGHADE do hereby express our compassion and solidarity to the victims, their families and all others living in fear in South Africa at the present time.

We entreat the assailants to cease these unimaginable atrocities which apart from being cruel, dims the image of black people and Africans in particular.

We entreat the authorities of the Republic of South Africa to bring this barbaric situation under control with immediate effect.

Foreigners have a right to governmental protection and security wherever they find themselves, irrespective of their administrative situation.

FEGHADE shares the pain of all victims of this unfortunate situation and calls upon all migrants in South Africa to remain vigilant and protect each other whenever possible.
