Tarkwa, April 20, GNA - Emmanuel Amoah, a 42-year-old crane operator working at Pems Engineering Services, was on Monday sentenced to 14 days imprisonment by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for stealing a Mon light bulb and two packs of Ever Ready AA batteries valued at GH¢ 28.00.

The accused pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided by Mr Justice Obeng Asante, that the complainant was the shop manager of Ransbert Supermarket in Tarkwa while the accused lived at Aboso.

He said at about 1430 hours on April 10, the accused went to Ransbert Supermarket to purchase a number of items and in the process stole one blub and two packs of batteries and hid them in his pocket.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said luck, however, eluded the accused when he was seen by one of the sales girls who prompted the complainant and Amoah was arrested and taken to the police station together with the items.

He said the accused admitted committing the offence in his caution statement. GNA
