Once I Have The Microphone, My Voice Will Be Heard - Elizabeth Bidzakin

Just a day after my TED talk, more than a life was lost in recent clashes in the Bunkpurugu Yunyoo district and I stand once again disgusted at the way we trivialize issues pertaining to conflict. To some people I may be seen as a noise maker who has nothing apart from conflict to pick on.

The truth however is that we have been backward since 1985 because some people simply want to fight. I bowed my head in pain and shame as Metro T.V reported the deaths and burnt houses this afternoon on the news.

You and I have overcome the circumstance and we either in a tertiary institution or a graduate of the University with better future prospects. Do we take time off our new culture of urbanism to go back home and preach peace or at least offer a stretched hand to other young people back home? Even more so are we making any efforts to ensure that our children yet unborn will hear better stories about their roots that the filtered and biased media accounts that belittle the severity of the unfortunate circumstances back home?

People like Dr. Emmanuel Bidzakin who have gone back home to work are not getting any incentives if all the time their work assets are at the risk of being destroyed through Conflict.

I propose a solution today. I believe that it's all in the mind. If we can dissuade the youth through skills training, peace building programs and education, we can stop conflict. If you doubt me, just consider whether or not your educated self will go back and fight, your answer will be a definite no. You are different becuse of the difference in your thoughts. We are in an age where the youth can change their reality through syncing their attitudes towards the right things. We are the smartest generation ever-Kofi Annan......lets champion change. Who knows the mark we will leave in history.

I won't take much of your divided 21st Century time which you have unconsciously devoted to the secular job market. I just want to appeal to all my northern Brothers and Sisters who are passionate about turning the situation around through a collective mentorship program under the Mind Shift Foundation in July this year. Please send me a Facebook message with your name, location and a 2 sentence statement on what you do currently and how you can be a mentor under the auspices of the Foundation's mentoring program that will be launched in the Bunkprugu Yunyoo District this July. Join me change minds to change lives,

Elizabeth Bidzakin, Founder of Mind shift Foundation Law student, Research Analyst and Blogger and a Strong member of Bimoba Student Union (BISU)
