Most Reverend Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, Vice President of the Africa Bishops Conference of the Roman Catholic Church, has observed Ghana's development has been impeded.

The renowned man of God, who has travelled extensively on the African continent, said countries that lack natural resources are developing at a faster rate than Ghana.

He categorically attributed situation to the lack of fear of God by the citizens, especially people who have been placed in positions of authority to lead the country to affluence.

Since the fear of God is not imbibed in the leaders, they don't consider the people they rule first in decisions that they take, and the situation has retarded the growth of the country.

Most Rev. Yaw Anokye charged Ghanaians, especially, the youth, who are the future leaders, to seek the face of God in all their endeavours in order to significantly improve their lives and the country.

He disclosed this while addressing congregants at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Tarkwa Maakro on Sunday during this year's annual Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi Youth Council Day.

The day has been set aside by the Catholic Church to celebrate the youth in the church. During such events, seminars and other insightful programmes are held where the youth are addressed by seasoned men of God.

Rev. Father James Boakye Agyeman, the Parish Priest, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, sternly cautioned the youth, notably students, against indulging in occultism which is on the ascendancy in the various tertiary institutions.

He described occultism was Satanic, stating that it could lead to murder, suicide and immorality and admonished the youth and the entire citizenry to avoid occultism in order to sustain peace.

Rev. Father Boakye Agyeman also warned the youth to refrain from smoking of Indian hemp and cigarette, as well as consumption of alcohol and cocaine.

Most of the unemployed youth engage in immoral acts such as prostitution and usage of narcotics due to frustration, urging government to prioritize job creation for the youth.

The event's theme was based on Mathew 5:8 which states 'Blessed are the pure in heart, they shall see God.'

Catholic youth from various parts of the Ashanti region attended the event.
