The hopes of an NPP member to become a parliamentary candidate in the Ayawaso Central Constituency were dashed today when he was heckled and turned away by constituency executives.

Carl Dey is being accused by the executives including former MP, Sheikh I.C Quaye of being a member of the NDC.

When he turned up at the party's constituency office on Friday to pick up his forms, the party office was shut and many calls he made to the party's constituency General Secretary proved futile.

Following his inability to access the party office, he visited Sheikh I.C Quaye who was then in his family house located behind the party office.

The constituency's party chairman and some executives who were present in the family house turned away Carl Dey in his quest to exchange pleasantries with them.

Speaking to Citi News, Carl Dey dismissed suggestions that he was an intruder sent by the NDC.

'I have never been a member of the NDC and I have never even visited the NDC Headoffice. I am a proud member of the NPP. I have visited this place several times so I don't know why they are accusing me of that but it doesn't shake me at all,' he insisted.

He disclosed that he will make an appeal to the regional party executives for redress.

'We have to find a solution to this because Ayawaso Central needs a leader. People are crying for a leader who has a new beginning, a new understanding and a new hope,' he stated.

The party's parliamentary primaries have set for June 13, 2015.

It was postponed from May 24th to the current date following an affirmative action proposed by the leadership of the party.

The affirmative action sought to secure seats for female Members of Parliament but was widely opposed.

The NPP subsequently differed the directive because of the fierce opposition it received.
