Delegates In The Ashanti Region Should Reject Non-performing Mps Inthe Upcoming Parliamentary Primaries.

It would be the height of unfairness to label all the NPP MPs from the Ashanti Region as non-performers, however, there are some of them we can well describe as epic flops as Legislatures. One may ask what are the basis for this momentous conclusion, and the reasons are many and varied. Whilst it would be ideal for us to itemize these cogent reasons for drawing this conclusion, time and space are of the essence, hence, the decision to highlight just two of them.

First and foremost, the Mills/Mahama administration piloted the health insurance capitation in the region with the largest population for over three years, and our MPs kept quiet. How they allowed this killer policy which was clearly meant to punish the people for voting against the NDC party beats our imaginations. This capitation has sent thousands to their untimely deaths, but most of our MPs strangely sat on the fence! The deafening silence of most of our MPs is reason enough to oust them from Parliament.

Another reason behind our call for delegates to reject some MPs stems from their attitude towards the reasons for which they were elected to represent their constituents. We might not be privy to everything that goes on behind the scenes, but our observations have revealed that some never uttered a word in contributing to discussions on the floor of Parliament. They were reduced to mere observers instead of active participants in debates. Why should such people represent their constituents when there are more competent and vibrant men and women out there who could effectively live up to the hype? We entreat our delegates to reject any lame duck or potential lame duck MP in the upcoming primaries. Vibrancy and competence should be the yardstick to elect Parliamentary candidates to go to the august house.

We deserve better than the lacklustre performances of some of the MPs in Parliament.
