SIMON OSEI, a 35-year-old suspected armed robber, is cooling off his feet in the cells of the Tema Regional Police Command for his alleged involvement in a series of criminal activities in the metropolis.

He is reported to have raped some of his female victims after robbing them.

According to police, the suspect, who resides at Jericho, a suburb of Ashaiman, has been behind most of the criminal activities in Communities nine, 10, 11 and 12.

Simon was said to have been on police wanted list for almost a year. The police said he often trailed his victims at night and eventually attacked them with knives, pairs of scissors, wheel spanners and sometimes a pistol.

Items retrieved from his residence included 19 wristwatches, ladies' bags, eight necklaces, four bracelets, a bead, bunches of keys, eight mobile phones, a power bank and three waist belts.

Some of the items retrieved.
The rest of the items were three earphones, four rings, three car tapes, a strong decoder, deck, Yamaha DVD player, LG flat screen TV, two remote controls and an amount of GH'71.

According to a statement released by the Tema Regional Police Command and copied DAILY GUIDE, the suspect on Friday April 10, 2015 embarked on one of his criminal operations at Community eight, where he attacked and robbed one Kingsley Ankukumah of four mobile phones, one landline telephone and an amount of GH'1,800. He then took to his heels but luck eluded him when his victim immediately raised an alarm, leading to the arrest of the suspect by some passersby and residents. He was later handed over to the police.

According to the police, 'When news went round about the arrest of the suspect, people who had fallen victim thronged the Regional Police Command to catch a glimpse of the notorious robber' and some 'victims have identified him as their assailant.'

Some of the items which were retrieved from the suspect have since been identified by their owners.

Investigations are ongoing and the suspect will be arraigned before court after the investigations.
