The uncle of the murdered graphic designer has revealed no one responded to the countless distress calls he made to the police when his nephew was being attacked by robbers.

Armed robbers killed 29-year-old Francis Thomas Anderson of events company Evolution International during the wee hours of Wednesday at his residence in Kwashieman.

According to Nana Safo Oduro, he 'started calling the police numbers 191, 192 and then 1855, all were ringing [but] nobody was picking it,' adding, 'I had no other choice than to call the other neighbours to help me to lift him'.

Anderson left behind a pregnant wife. The deceased only moved to his new residence early March having married in December last year.

Oduro, who witnessed the incident from a distance, told Accra-based Joy FM: 'We are not safe…. I think the police are doing well, but they don't have what it takes to fight crime.'

The Greater Accra police command said initial investigations show that Anderson struggled with the robbers leading to his death.

The police have therefore advised the public to desist from such act, especially when robbers are wielding guns.

ASP Afia Tenge told Citi FM: 'When they come to you, most of them are on drugs so they come there dazed and any attempts from you to resist them will end them taking your life.

'They [armed robbers] have nothing to lose anyway, you have your family to protect so in all times once you are alive, you would always have your properties back.'
