Deputy Education Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and his colleague Felix Kwakye Ofosu were Wednesday morning heckled and humiliated by students of the Wesley College of Education in Kumasi.

The students were protesting the withdrawal of teacher trainee allowances by the John Mahama administration.

Luv FM's Prince Appiah, who was at the scene said, Mr. Ablakwa declined comment on the issue saying he would speak at the appropriate time.

Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa, fellow Deputy Communications Minister, Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Director at the National Service Scheme, Dr. Michael Whyte Kpessah, amongst other government functionaries were in the school to address the students on opportunities available to them after school.

This is an initiative by the Ministry of Education to talk to students in tertiary institutions on life after school.

Prince Appiah said the team was at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Tuesday and moved to the Wesley College of Education where students from all seven colleges of education in the Ashanti region congregated.

The students started to agitate when Ablakwa took the podium to address them.

They chanted unceasingly, ignoring calls by an announcer for calm.

Not even the principals of the various colleges of education could get the students to stay calm and listen to the deputy Education Minister.

Prince Appiah said some of the male students, after humiliating the government officials, started filing out of the auditorium leaving behind the female students and the perplexed guests.

The ladies followed and were also followed ignominiously by the deputy ministers and obviously embarrassed principals of the schools.
