Deutsche Welle honours the best in online activism with the 11th annual The Bobs - Best of Online Activism awards. It's up to the public to vote for the winners of the People's Choice Awards.
Internet users from around the world made over 4,800 submissions in 14 languages, and 70 of them were named finalists on Thursday and presented at www.thebobs.com. It's now up to the public to determine the winners of the People's Choice Awards in all 14 of the contest's languages – polls will be open until May 3.
An international jury will also decide on the winners in The Bobs' three multilingual categories: Social Change, Privacy and Security, and Arts and Media.
All the multilingual category winners will be honored on June 23 at the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum in Bonn, Germany. A focus of the award ceremony will also be honoring Saudi Arabian blogger Raif Badawi, the winner of the first Deutsche Welle Freedom of Speech Award.
