Six months old baby missing at Wa lorry station

Wa April 7, GNA - The Wa community has been saddened by the missing of a six-month old baby at the Wa Kejetia Lorry Station.

The incident occurred on April 3 in the Wa municipality and up to date the whereabouts of the baby is not yet known, information available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) has revealed.

Mr Mahamuda S. Yussif Funsi North Assembly Member said the parents of the baby, Mr Hudu Karim and his wife were travelling from the Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region to Wungtori in West Mamprisi District in the Northern Region with their two children.

They arrived in Wa at around 2 am time and decided to sleep at the Wa Lorry Station to continue the journey the next morning.

At the station a station security man, one Amadu approached them and provided them a place to sleep and at about 330 am when the mother of the baby woke up she could not found her.

Mr Mahamuda said the parents contacted the security man who declined knowledge of the whereabouts of the child, saying 'I am not in charge of human beings here; I am only in charge of The matter was reported to the police and the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) Executive.

The police arrested the security man, who is helping the police in their investigations.

When GNA contacted the leadership of the GPRTU, the Senior Industrial Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Nuhu Seidu said the union is concerned about the growing insecurity at the station and the Central Market.

The Upper Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kwasi Mensah Duku, confirmed the missing of the baby, adding that the security man arrested is helping the police in their investigations.
