Accra, April 1, GNA - Right Reverend Dr Daniel Sylvanus Mensah Torto, Anglican Bishop of Accra, on Wednesday asked Christians to use the Easter celebrations to pray for amicable resolution of the maritime territorial dispute between Ghana and Ivory Coast.

'I exhort you to remember in your prayers, our neighbouring sister nations, especially at this time, Ivory Coast, that there will be understanding and peaceful relations, devoid of any territorial fracas,' he said in his annual Easter message.

Mrs Marietta Brew Oppong Appiah, Minister of Justice and Attorney General is leading a team of lawyers at the International Tribunal in Hamburg over the dispute.

Rt Rev Torto also called on the citizenry to pray for Nigerians to accept the results of the just ended general election for peace to reign thereafter.

He said Easter is a period for reconciliation 'to draw closer to each other, break down barriers that divide us and co-exist with each other, irrespective of our religious, ethnic, class, social background and political leanings'.

'Christ is our peace. He has reconciled us to the father, and therefore, there is every need for us to be joyful this Easter.

'We were God's enemies, but we have now been reconciled to him through the death of Jesus Christ. God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them.

'God has committed to us the message of reconciliation and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 'he said.
