Hohoe, April 1, GNA - The Hohoe Municipal Queen-mothers Association have, with support from the Northern Volta Cooperative Transport Union (NVCTU) donated assorted food items to the Hohoe School for the Deaf at a brief event.

The items worth about GH¢2,000.00 included rice, beans, gari, maize, edible oil, sachet water and soft drinks.

Mamaga Dewotornyo, Paramount Queen-mother of Gbi, presenting the items, said their gesture was in response to an appeal made by the School about its challenges, which again offered the opportunity for them to familiarize with its problems.

She said as custodians of traditional systems and mothers, it behoved them to show the way for others to emulate, and hoped the items would be put to good use.

Mr Seth Tsedze, Public Relations Officer of NVCTU, said the benevolence was part of the Union's civic social responsibility to deprived institutions.

Mrs Didy Ntim, Headmistress of the School, praised the two institutions for their prompt response to their request.

She said increasing student enrolment was rendering the government's support inadequate and therefore appealed to corporate, religious and other public and private-spirited organisations, to come to their aid.
