Accra, March, 31 GNA - The new Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Right Reverend Dr. Seth Senyo Agidi has paid a courtesy call on the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Right Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the ecumenical relationship between the two churches and for the new EP moderator to introduce himself officially to the PCG Moderator and the church in general after his election and induction into office.

Rt. Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey congratulated Rt. Rev. Dr. Adigi on his nomination, election and induction as the 13th Moderator of one of the oldest churches in Ghana.

Rt. Rev Prof. Emmanuel Martey in a short speech expressed the need for leaders to uphold integrity and humility, accountability, unity and peace to enhance the socio-economic development of the country.

He also called on civil society to hold leaders at all levels to account for their stewardship and also measure their actions against their promises.

Rt. Rev Prof. Emmanuel Martey said one major problem confronting Ghana at the moment was high rate of corruption and therefore called on his counterpart to join the fight against the canker.

Rt. Rev Dr Agidi on his part commended Rt. Rev Prof. Martey on his exemplarily leadership which had seen the Presbyterian Church of Ghana moving in the right direction.

He pledged that the two churches would continue to collaborate and also work hand in hand.

Rt. Rev Seth Senyo Agidi is the second Moderator since the adoption of the General Assembly concept by the EP Church six years ago.

He was accompanied by Rev Godwin Osiakwa, Clerk of the General Assembly, Mr Jonas Dzodzodzi, Presbyter Executive, Mr MacDonald Bubuama, Public Relations Officer of the EP Church and Rev Emmanuel Amey, Synod Moderator for West Volta Presbytery.

Present at the meeting were Rev Dr Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, Clerk of General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and other officials of PCG.
