NPP Excited About George Andah’s Bid

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is excited about the decision by some members of OccupyGhana to contest the party's parliamentary primaries in some constituencies.

The NPP says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be happy if such fine materials were in their fold.

A Deputy Communications Director for the NPP, Anthony Abayifa Karboo expressed the excitements when he was reacting to assertions by the National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams that the NPP is using pressure group, Occupy Ghana “to mobilize votes” for the party.

Kofi Adams made the claims following an announcement that, a leading member of OccupyGhana, George Andah had expressed interest in contesting the Awutu Senya seat in the Central Region.

If he succeeds in the party's primary, Mr Andah will battle Foreign Affairs Minister, Hannah Serwaa Tetteh for the seat.

Mr. Karbo explained that, there are several people in the NDC who used pressure groups to advance their political career. He went further to give examples: Presidential Staffer, Dr. Clement Apaak, who was Convener for an organization called Forum for Governance and Justice (FGJ), Madam Akua Sena Dansua who was also with the Ghanaian Times Newspaper, Richard Quarshiegah who is the current MP for Keta Constituency in the Volta Region who was working with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, among others.

Mr. Karbo said those personalities , who are now hardcore members of the NDC once worked in public institutions as well as joining pressures groups.
