Accra, March 31, GNA - A Strategic Leadership Programme (SLP) organised by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in collaboration with the Cranfield University and the Defence Academy both of the United Kingdom (UK) has ended in Accra.

The Programme is an export variant of the Defence Strategic Leadership Programme run by the UK Defence Academy for senior officers and officials in strategic leadership position.

The week long Programme, was attended by 31 participants in leadership positions drawn from various security services, ministries, departments, agencies and civil society organizations from Ghana, Nigerian, the Ivory Coast and Togo.

The aim of the SLP Programme was to enhance strategic and management at the corporate/strategic level across defence and wider security sector.

Participants were taken through three broad areas: Leadership Paradigms, Strategic Context and Organizational Culture.

Caron Rohsler, Deputy British High Commissioner to Ghana, in her closing remarks on Friday in Accra said the SLP deliberately targeted senior level management personnel who would be involved with intra-departmental coordination, decision making and change management.

She advised the participants to apply the knowledge they have acquired in their respective ministries and departments.

The High Commissioner further encouraged them to stay in touch with each other, and to stay in touch with the UK Defence Academy, Cranfield University and the KAIPTC - either directly or through their respective website; which all contains links to published papers on a variety of contemporary issues and subjects.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander on behalf of his colleagues lauded the KAIPTC, Cranfield University and the British Government for organizing the programme, which had empowered them for their various fields of operations.

He suggested that the SLP, which is a certificate programme be up graded into a diploma due to the course content and the number of man hours spent in teaching and learning.
