31.03.2015 LISTEN

The Sefwi Akontombra constituency chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party 'NPP', Mr. Alex Djornobuah Tetteh has officially resigned from his position as the chairman for the party with immediate effect.

This was contained in a letter dated on the 25th March, 2015, to the western regional secretary of the New Patriotic Party by Mr. Tetteh.

According to the official letter, Mr. Tetteh's decision to resign was in congruent with the tenets of the New Patriotic Party's constitution to allow him contest the upcoming primaries as a parliamentary aspirant.

It was also in fulfillment of the rules and regulations in the 2015 parliamentary primaries outlined by the National Executives Council of the party.

“I hereby tender in my resignation from the position as a chairman with immediate effect to pave the way for me to adequately prepare and contest the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the party” Mr. Tetteh stated.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Polling Station and Constituency Executives as well as all the faithful and die-hard party members for their trust and unflinching support during his stewardship as the Akontombra constituency chairman.

INTERVIEW

In an exclusive interview, Mr. Alex Tetteh confirmed the story and said his decision to contest was in response to a call on him by core party members as well as some floating voters in the constituency.

He admitted that it also follows the decision of Mr. Appiah Kubi-Baidoo, three time's parliamentary candidate of the party not to contest in the 2016 elections.

It is believed that Mr. Tetteh would face a fierce competition at the primaries with Mr. Fredrick Kwoffie, a former presiding member of the Akontombra District Assembly.

Mr. Alex Djornubuah Tetteh has been the Sefwi Akontombra constituency chairman for the NPP since the creation of the constituency in 2003.

During his tenure, the party witnessed a lot of leadership transformation.
