MAR 28, 2015 LISTEN

Alight House International, Lefkosa Branch in Cyprus, celebrated their maiden Cultural Cay on Sunday, 22 nd March 2015.

The service which started with members and visitors, mostly Africans trooping to the church premises in their various cultural attires ended with the display and consumption of various African traditional meals from different African countries such as Nigeria, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ethiopia, South Africa, DR Congo, and Ghana among others.

Starting with a powerful traditional praise and worship session and presentations from the Zambians, Yuroba dancers and the Alight House drama team, the evening evolved into a powerful ministration from the Alight House Choir through song renditions from almost all the countries and cultures represented.

Pastor Nonso Patrick, the branch pastor of Alight House International, Lefkosa, declared the purpose of the gathering, saying the programme was not just about the gathering of different cultures but a celebration of the power of God who has brought people from diverse cultures together as one people because of His love.

In a sermon titled 'Discovering your purpose and functioning in it', Apostle Dr. Anyi Obi exhorted members to discover who they are, as it is only through such a discovery that a Christian can make impact. Quoting from 2 Corinthians 9:10 “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness”, he urged members to develop the seed of God in them, so as to make impact in their generation.

The sermon which was rich with Apostle Obi's usual deep and insightful statements ended with a series of prophecies and pronouncements of blessings on members.

Departments and individuals who had distinguished themselves in their service to God and the church were presented with merit awards.

The service ended with members being treated to a buffet of assorted tastes of traditional meals from the various countries as part of the programme. Some of the traditional dishes on display were: nshima, fisashi, beans, maveggie nenyama and sadza from Zambia and Zimbabwe, egusie, eba, pepper soup and bitter leaf soup from Nigeria and Waakye with gari and sauce and Omo tuo (rice balls) with groundnut soup from Ghana.

Present at the service were the Founder and Head Pastor of Alight House International, the branch Pastors, Pastor Prince and Pastor Richard of Girne and Lefke Branch respectively and the host Pastor, Pastor Patrick Nonso, Lefkosa Branch.
