In The Case Of Christians Vrs Dirty Politics

Feature Article In The Case Of Christians Vrs Dirty Politics

Your Christianity is very questionable if you simply sit and watch in the name of Holiness.

I have very often been engaged in somewhat scattered conversations around Christians being in Politics. The often monotonous argument is made “Politics is too DIRTY” - as though it is political engagements that make a man sinful or keeps him in sin.

Personally, I think on the mild side it is hypocrisy for Christians not to be involved in politics and on the far left, darn right SINFUL.

What Christians fail to realize is that if Abraham is our patriarch through whose lineage we have become Christians then we ought to be VERY VERY political. You see, in the days of Abraham, Isaac and especially Jacob, when in each turn, they birthed and led the nation of Israel, these 3 patriarchs were each both Political and Spiritual Leaders all in one. Now compare the national stability in those days to today, when the two functions are separated. The tithes they collected was effectively what has evolved today into national Taxes and the 12 tribes who were assigned different roles can be aligned to Ministerial departments of any modern government. So, why do we want to fancy everything that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David and Jesus did and yet when it comes to politics, we are ALL OVER THE PLACE with spinelessly dead arguments.

So what about the excuse that politics presents Christians with the highest opportunity to SIN? Well, let me deal with that in two stages:

Stage 1.
God chose Abraham to be a father of nations not because he was perfect but because “Abraham knew how to order his OWN household” (Genesis 18:19).

Stage 2.
After Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David etc all became political and spiritual leaders of Israel, none of them was without sin. Yet God accepted them perfectly as they were. Why? Bible is very profound in Ecclesiastes 7:20 “For there is not any just man on earth, who does much good and does not sin” – You get it?

So my 3 questions to the many Christians sitting on the “ChrisPolitical” fence are these:

(i) Are you sinless this very moment, because you are NOT in politics? How come then you think being in politics is what will make you sinful?

(ii) Did you think JESUS CHRIST our Lord was NOT political? Go back and analyse His defiant acts, his timings & locations of miracles, His utterances, strategic associations etc.

(iii) If you a Christian as representatives of Christ, sit back and allow ungodly men and women to make laws that you and the future heritage of Christians to abide by, have you been wise in the exercise of your authority, or foolish?
