Since the death of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama-Former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana on November 16, 2012 The Aliu Mahama Foundation in collaboration with the family has engaged in several activities geared at keeping the memory of the former gentle and humble Vice President alive.

The first major activity towards this agenda was the First Aliu Mahama Memorial lecture which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre and delivered by Dr. Mahamud Bawumia under the chairmanship of former President Kufour. Not only was it hugely attended but also it was a huge success as well. A keep fit walk was what preceded the lecture.

It must be stated that the former second lady of the republic- Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama took part in that walk.

The Second Aliu Mahama Memorial lectures took place at the State House in Accra and it was delivered by Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo the NPP Flagbearer for election 2016.

It was equally a well attended lecture and the Aliu Mahama Foundation was once again commended for putting the lecture together. Farouk Aliu Mahama was specifically mentioned by Nana Addo for leading the family to keep the memory of his Dad Alive during the second memorial lecture.

Before the second Aliu Mahama Memorial Lectures there was a sanitation exercise in Tamale which the family participated in fully. The Local Government Ministry as part of keeping the memory of Aliu Mahama alive named the National clean up exercise as Aliu Mahama Sanitation Day.

It was a commendable programme as Aliu Mahama loathed indiscipline in the Ghanaian society and launched a campaign dubbed: Do the Right Thing when he was Veep.

The Aliu Mahama Foundation led by Farouk Aliu Mahama and Dr Frimpong-The Executive Secretary of the Foundation were in Chicago in the United States of America recently for a memorial lecture in honour of the man. It was a successful lecture and the Foundation received commendations for this fete.

Farouk Aliu Mahama a Son of the Former Vice President who has been very instrumental in all these activities has been commended by the society for his effort at keeping the memory of his dad alive.

According to Farouk Aliu Mahama a lot of other things would be done this year as part of continued effort to keep the name of the only Northerner and Ghanaian who became Vice President of Ghana for 8years alive.

Some of the activities will be visits to some chiefs, religious leaders, opinion leaders and friends of the late vice President. The aim is to reconnect with these people as the former vice was doing to consolidate the friendship.

The Aliu Mahama Foundation will also donate some books to some selected schools in the country as part of its programme for the year all aimed at keeping the memory of the man alive and encouraging the development education in the country.
