MAR 5, 2015 LISTEN

Zini, UWR, March 5, GNA - Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, the Upper West Regional Minister, has cautioned contractors working on government projects to endeavour to complete their work on schedule to avoid an increase in cost.

Alhaji Sulemana was not happy that the construction of an office complex for the Lambussie-Karni District Assembly, which started in 2009 at the cost of GH¢ 791,682.65, was still not completed.

He said such delays does not only contribute to increased cost of projects but also denies the community access to such facilities and even on some occasion's causes the abandoning of works.

The Lambussie-Karni District Assembly is financing the project with its common fund, whilst StoneWall Company Limited is executing it.

The contractor was not on site when Alhaji Sulemana and the District Chief Executive, Mr. Bom Kofi Dy-Yakah visited the project site.

Alhaji Sulemana also inspected the Community Senior High Schools at Lambussie, in the Lambussie-Karni District and Zini in the Sissala West District, where work was progressing steadily.

He appealed to the contractors on site to complete the projects on schedule.

The Regional Minister also inspected the small town water project at Pina in the Lambussie-Karni District.

The project cost GH¢ 1.5 million and would provide 50 cubic of water for a population of 2,700 people when completed.
