Ghana has been in the media landscape, both local and international for the high rate of corruption in the country. However, previous and successive governments have been accused of not prosecuting the culprit. But can we continue to blame the government?

The US President Barack Obama ones said during his visit to Ghana 2013 that, the nation needs strong institutions not strong men who fight with guns. If the country has strong institutions that will take its just course, Ghana will be free from corruption. Corruption in its highest level in the country can be tackled from our individual institutions.

It has been a great and biggest objective of government in the country to build affordable housing for the numerous employees in the public sector due to the high deficit of employees' accommodation in Ghana. Workers travel from distance to work; at times a worker will take more than two 'Trotro' buses to get to his/her work place which does not help to increase productivity.

In the case of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital staff accommodation, many are the workers who have applied for accommodation since the hospital has its own accommodation for workers. But for those applied since 2013, are still yet to receive any good news from the authorities' in-charge of accommodation.

I have had opportunity to live at one of the facilities belongs to the hospital at Ampabame near Bohyen in Kumasi, since 2011, and it will amazes you, those nurses who have gone on retirement for the past two years and are suppose to vacate their bungalows are still occupying the facilities.

Poor Supervision
It is not clear whether the hospital has a task force who would make sure those are on retirement have vacated from their bungalows. I have witnessed in two occasions where letters have been served to one of the occupants who has been on retirement for one half year but still living in the facility yet no critical action has been take.

Corruption has engulfed all the institutions in Ghana. At the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Estate department, many occupants get their bungalows without proper documentation. And this is due someone's 'tip off'. If corruption is not dealt with, at this level it affect the growth our institution and hence national development. This article is to bring to the attention of the authorities of the Hospital to conduct critical investigation to put the situation employees' accommodation under control.
