Chief bemoans poor state of Jasikan roads

Acting President of the Buem Traditional Council, Nana Opraw Akuamoah VIII, has called on the government fix the poor roads in the northern part of the Volta Region, especially Jasikan, even as work is ongoing on the Eastern Corridor roads.

The Chief said this when the deputy minister for Local Government, Emmanuel Agyekum, accompanied by the Regional Minister, Helen Ntoso, paid a courtesy call on him.

Mr Agyekum and the regional minister are touring the northern part of the Volta Region as part of preparations towards the next National Sanitation Day on March 7, to held hosted by the region.

The two ministers have also been inspecting projects in the various districts.

The regional minister, Helen Ntoso stressed government's commitment to improving conditions in the region and called on the chiefs and people to be patient.

Deputy minister Emmanuel Agyekum called on the traditional council to support government's initiatives for socioeconomic advancement of the region and called on the chiefs to support the upcoming national clean up exercise.

Ahead of the sanitation exercise, the Local Gov't Ministry is distributing 10,000 waste bins in the region.

Meanwhile, the regional minister announced plans to construct 20,000 toilets national wide with support from the Fidelity Bank.
