MAR 1, 2015 LISTEN

East Hartford, Connecticut, USA:
The Valentine's Day Party held Saturday February 14th, 2015, became the talk of town ceaselessly in many social clubs around the tri-states areas. What added some aura of traditional pomp and pageantry was the arrival of some Ghanaian local authorities in the Diaspora, such as the Kwahuman of Connecticut and Fantiman of New England, as well as the gorgeous and attractive Radio Host Grace Imo. They all collaborated to redefine this memorable Valentine's Day's event. Grace Imo opened the festive evening with an engaging and provocative dialogue, encouraging Ghanaian couples in Connecticut to take their love lives to a whole in level.

The event took place in the Ballroom at Veterans Memorial Center in East Hartford, Connecticut.

The party was scheduled to begin at the height of a very cold and blustery New England winter, but by the onset of the event, fresh snow had started falling on top of already knee-high snow and driving was rough. According to one source, the organizers seriously considered cancelling the event due to this unexpected, inclement weather. Yet much to their surprise, people fought their way through the stormy night and after a brief delay, audience began flocking in from all walks of life, until it seemed that suddenly, within just the blink of an eye, all the seats were filled and it was “Standing Room Only” for Odo Nkomo/African Love Matters!

The occasion was graced by many personalities from the African Diaspora community. Some of the evening's prominent personalities included Mr. Peter Ennin, Kwahuman Association Chair, who attended with his wife; Bishop John Kyereh, who came out from Saint Mary Catholic church to bless the event; Nana Adoma Kyirekua, Queen Mother of Kwahuman Connecticut, escorted by her husband, Mr. Mike Ampofo.

It was a red-carpeted event with refreshments starting at 8:00 P.M. It kicked off with an opening prayer by Bishop John Kyereh.

The opening ceremony was moderated by Mr. Peter Ennis, who acknowledged and his expressed appreciation for many enthusiastic participants who showed up on time and looking great and glamorous despite the bad and blizzard [snowy] weather and a very cold night. As Chairman of the Kwahuman of Connecticut, he commended the audience of the import of such an august event.

Immediately after him, the guest of the evening, Love and Relationship host Grace Imo, a renowned radio and entertainment celebrity (a.k.a. Odo Nkomo) mounted the stage and opened a robust hour of dialogue with all attendees, opening stimulating and wide-ranging topics of discussion with themes and questions such as, “What is love?” “How can you maintain love affair with your partner?” and “How can you stay committed to each other?” Before turning over the party to its live D.J. and dancing 'till midnight, Ms. Imo plunged deeper with them into the subject of “How to keep your partner interested and keep your love light burning in the bedroom, no matter how long it is you've been together.”

The participation of the audience helped shape the hour, ask guests raised with Grace Imo those question that were most troubling to them, such as “If a husband wants to make love to his wife and the woman does not feel like it, what should these couple do?” According to Grace's opinion, unless the woman is having surgery or in her sick bed then they should denied their men. If not then, a woman should make every effort to be receptive to her man's advances. Grace Imo further explained that, it is her belief that, due to the nature of the male sex drive, women should not deprive their husband of sex. She also emphasized that in order to preserve their marriages, it generally falls more to the women to make more of an effort to understand their men than vice-versa.

The conversations that began during that first hour never stopped since. When Grace Imo's speech concluded, the lights dimmed and changed to red, with an ivory white beam of light pinpointing each of the four corners of the ballroom. With that, suddenly a hush came over the room as each guest grabbed their partner for a quick cuddle and began to dance. With especially cool, romantic music coming from the evening's live D.J., the rest of the night was left unspeakable.

There were several community leaders who helped to host and make this night possible that include Ohemaa Royal Decorations, Masters of the Ceremony Yaw Annafi Agyeman Okoforobour and Akokura Tagore. Media coverage included photography by Kelvin-Nero Oren studios, and video provided by AW Production LLC.
