Driver's mate arraigned for abduction and defilement

Takoradi, Feb.28, GNA - Mawuli Kllivia, a 19-year old driver's mate, on Friday appeared before the Takoradi Circuit Court 'B' for allegedly abducting and defiling a 13-year old girl.

He pleaded not guilty to abduction of unmarried female under 18 years and defilement and was remanded in prisons custody to re-appear on March.11.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Felix Danku told the court presided by Mr Justice Michael Ntumy, that the accused is a driver's mate at the Accra Station in Takoradi, whilst the victim lived with her mother, Evelyn Kwegyir, at Abura Dunkwa.

He said the victim went to Tarkwa in December last year to spend the Christmas with her father and in January this year, she left Tarkwa for Abura Dunkwa.

Chief Inspector Danku said when she got to Takoradi, she went to the Accra Station to board a vehicle and there, she met the accused who proposed love to her.

He said the accused took the victim to his house and bought food for her after she had taken her bath.

Chief Inspector Danku said the accused kept the victim in his room whenever he was going to work and on the third day, had sexual intercourse with the victim and broke her virginity.

He said the victim bled profusely after the sexual act and on the fifth day, the accused had another sex with her.

Chief Inspector Danku said the accused kept the victim in his room for two weeks until the mother came looking for her in Takoradi.

He said the mother had information that the accused had abducted a girl and with the help of a certain boy, the victim was brought to the mother who took her to Abura Dunkwa.

Chief Inspector Danku said the victim fled to Takoradi again and spent two days with the accused.

He said On February 10 this year, the mother returned to Takoradi, took away the victim from the accused's room and reported the case to the Police.

Chief Inspector Danku said the Police issued a medical form to the mother for the victim to go to hospital for medical examination.

He said victim again fled and lodged with the accused and on February 20, the Drug and Law Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service arrested the accused and conducted a search in his room for Indian hemp.

Chief Inspector Danku said the Police found the victim in the room and arrested the accused who was charged after investigations.
