Majority in Parliament are dreading the prospects of incessant heckling by the Minority ahead of the President's State of the Nation address which comes at a time of a national power crisis.

Majority Chief Whip Muntaka Mohammed has revealed that his side has met with the leadership of the Minority to discuss heckling.

Heckling, a technique of intimidating a speaker, is a normal parliamentary practice used to express discontent.

Discontent is a mild description of the mood in the country, as many consumers continue to sleep in darkness and small businesses face collapse because of an irritating three-year power paralysis.

Power paralysis termed 'dumsor' in local parlance is a problem expected to dominate the President's speech tomorrow.

But an even more dominant possibility is disappointed opposition MPs enthusiastic about making the President uncomfortable during his address.

The Majority has asked the Minority leaders to tone down heckling even if they find the practice irresistible.
