My 5-month-old-baby has rashes because of 'dumsor' - father cries out

A middle-aged father stormed Joy FM's Power Forum to vent his frustration on how the power crisis is affecting his five-month old baby.

James Coffie lost his cool when a panelist tried to make a case for consumers to conserve power by putting off appliances when not in use.

Sub Transmission Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Samuel Odame explained that Ghana saved about 100megawatts after a public campaign to conserve power during the World Cup last July. He made projections that suggested, consumers can do more.

But this irked Coffie. Taking the microphone, he described the suggestion as 'nonsense' because it is not possible to conserve power that isn't there.

"How do you conserve energy you don't have" he fired during the Wednesday Power Forum, saying that it was an emotional sight for him to see the child suffer in the night when all he could do was watch.

"Anytime the lights goes off I become a fan for my baby", he screamed.

What was even more bothersome to him was the constant reference to the power crisis as a haunting problem for the past 30 years.

According to the frustrated Ghanaian, people must be held responsible now in view of the huge budgets government claims to be using on capacity-building.

He was contributing to an expert discussion on the power crisis where panelists contemplated immediate solution to the three-year old irritant.
