On Saturday 21st February 2015 during the celebration of Koforidua Secondary Technical School- SECTECH, outstanding teachers and students in the persons of Mr. Osei Manu Agyemang and Madam Regina Boahemaa took home 60" Philips plasma TV and a dell laptop worth over $2000 respectively for the best teacher category. The over all best student Master Oppong Raymond got a mini tablet and assorted books, whiles other well deserving students picked varied awards. The aforementioned awards were provided by the old students' association of Koforidua SecTech( Mmarima Mma)

In a speech read on behalf of the association by the President , Barima Ba Scofray Nana Yaw Yeboah, stated that the association was in the process of building a multi-purposed assembly hall with a sitting capacity of over 1,500 and other ancillary offices.

He said this was to celebrate the school's upcoming Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2017 and as well solidify the strength of the school as a force to reckon with when it comes to science and technology in second cycle educational level. This is to deepen their accolade as the "eastern university", where students are not only schooled but trained to be able to face the storms of life and excel in every endeavor they pursue after school.

He further challenged the teachers to give off their best to produce best students for the country's top notch tertiary institutions, the current students were encouraged to break and set new records in every spheres of their time in Sectech. He promised that these items for the awards are the tip of the iceberg as the years goes by.

The guest speaker, Barima Ba Professor Samuel Nii Odai, Pro Vice Chancellor of KNUST who spoke on the theme Effective Science & Technology; vehicle for accelerated development, bemoaned how less practical attention given to science and technical education is slowing the country's development.

He stated that if the nation will purposed it, to give attention to science and technology which sadly cut across all our endeavors, we are potentially to be like the Asian tigers, China, Japan, Korea etc who are all late comers of the emerged economies.

The head master Barima Ba Samuel Prince Foli, who happens to be the first old boy of the school to rise through the ranks from a teacher, senior house master, head of department, assistant headmaster and currently the head master made a passionate appeal to government to come to their aid as the population of the students puts a great toll on the facilities of the school.

He said increase in students population is as a result of the consistent excellent performance of the school in curricula and extra curricular activities.

The event was successful chaired by Barima Ba Ing. Nana Kwaku Amoako-Baah, Manager Business Development and International Relations Volta River Authority.
