Ghanaian Judge Excels In USA

A Ghanaian Magistrate, Mavis Ekua Enyamah Kwainoe,  currently studying at the George Washington University in the United States of America (USA), has been nominated to  attend the International Association of Women Judges in New York as a panelist to discuss the status of women.

The magistrate, who is a Burgenthal scholar doing her LLM in International and Comparative Law, represented Africa on an international conference that discussed corruption in Africa and how to combat it.

Other panelists were from the United Kingdom, USA, China and France and the magistrate spoke on corruption perceptions, causes, actors and the magnitude of it as well as concerns about the menace.

Ms. Kwainoe, who excelled at the conference, also made recommendations on both legal and non-legal measures to be adopted in dealing with corruption.

For her great contributions, the learned magistrate would also attend a workshop on International Humanitarian Law in Virginia, USA.

She was nominated for further studies in June 2014 by the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Mrs. Georgina Theodora Wood.
