CPP Supports Greece In Its Anti-austerity Move

The Convention People's Party (CPP) has followed with keen interest the struggle of the people of Greece and their radical anti-austerity party Syriza under the courageous leadership of Alexis Tsipras. Their fight and vote against the bailout conditions of fiscal austerity that has caused hardship and misery to the enlightened and civilized people of Greece

is proving truly inspirational for all human centred political parties.

The CPP wishes to identify with and express our solidarity with the just struggle of the people of Greece to have a voice in the determination of the conditions and environment for their free development because Ghana has a similar imposition for our development and the same policy prescription of fiscal austerity that has seen the retrenchment of labour, the depression of the purchasing power of our people, the contraction of our national economy amidst rising debt.

The Convention People's Party congratulates the good people of Greece in their victory in the negotiations with the European Union to expunge the strictures of fiscal austerity for the development of their country.

We acknowledge that this is a single victory that may not signify that they have won the war but it is also by no evaluation an isolated one and that the gallant people of Greece will march on with determination to victory that will not dissolve the unity of Europe but a victory that is gracious in the preservation of the European Union in a world of peaceful co-existence
